MIDCENT ITALIAN PRINTS OF POMPEIAN FRESCOS FRAMED
A pair of mid-20th century Italian color photogravure prints. The pieces are reproductions of the Ancient Roman frescoes in Herculanum and Pompeii, Naples. The first print depicts Telephus, son of Hercules, being suckled by a doe in the temple of Minerva. The second print represents Iphigenia in Tauris. Label sticker Paulo Diego e Figli, Firenze, Italy is on the backside of both items. Hand-signed with design number 101 and titled on the label stickers. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area of Campagnia, was buried under volcanic ash in the Eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Golden frames.
