TWO ANTIQUE ORTHODOX ICONS, MAJ STELLINGER HOUSE
The lot includes two antique late 19th or early 20th century Orthodox icons: a Greek icon depicting Holy Martyrs Saint Charalampos, an early Christian priest in Magnesia, signed in Ancient Greek: á¼Î³Î¹Î& iquest;Ï‚ ΧαÏά&Ici rc;»Î±Î¼Ï€&Ic irc;¿Ï‚, tempera on wood panel, and a mosaic icon depicting Saint George the Victorious Slaying the Dragon. The present lot on auction form part of the Kuranda's family estate. The most chronological recent lots are former belongings from USA veteran Major Thom Stellinger-Scott related through marriage with the Kuranda lineage. He was a veteran of Korean War as well as a reputed amateur photographer and artist. The Stellinger-Scott family resided for decades at Montauk Long Island NY.
