Kalon beKavod Namir - a rare yellow badge worn by Jews in Eretz Yisrael to identify with German Jews - Eretz Yisrael, late 1930s.
This patch, worn by Jews in Palestine in 1938, was part of a fundraising campaign to save Austrian Jews under the auspices of the 'Austrian Redemption Fund'.
The motto was chosen in accordance with the famous dictum of Robert Weltsch, editor of the Juedische Rundschau, the organ of German Zionism. In his response to the Yellow Badge Law of 1933, in a front-page article entitled "Bear the Yellow Badge with Pride", Weltsch addressed the Jews and called upon them to cease being ashamed of their origins – precisely in the face of the difficult events. He called for the reassertion of Jewish identity and the proud proclamation of it in the face of their aggressors. "April 1st, 1933", declared Waltz, "can be a day of awakening and revival for the Jews, if the Jews so desire. If the Jews have the inner ripeness and greatness, if they are different from what they are portrayed by their enemies". [From the National Library of Israel blog].

קלון בכבוד נמיר - טלאי צהוב נדיר שענדו יהודים בארץ ישראל להזדהות עם יהודי גרמניה - ארץ ישראל, סוף שנות השלושים
טלאי זה שלפנינו ענדו יהודים בארץ ישראל בשנת 1938 במסגרת קמפיין איסוף התרומות למען הצלת יהודי אוסטריה במסגרת 'המפעל לפדיון שבויי אוסטריה'
מוטו הטלאי נבחר על פי המשפט המפורסם של רוברט ולטש, עורך ה-יודישה רונדשאו, עיתונם של ציוני גרמניה. בתגובתו לחוק הטלאי בשנת 1933, במאמר בעמוד הראשון, שכותרתו: "שאו בגאון את הטלאי הצהוב", פנה ולטש ליהודים וקרא להם לחדול מלהתבייש במוצאם – דווקא לאור המאורעות הקשים. הוא קרא לאמץ מחדש את הזהות היהודית ולהכריז עליה בגאון בפני תוקפיהם. "הראשון באפריל 1933", קבע ולטש, "יכול להיות יום של התעוררות ותחייה יהודית, אם היהודים ירצו בכך. אם תהיה ליהודים בשלות וגדולה פנימית, אם הם שונים מכפי שהם מתוארים על ידי אויביהם". [מתוך בלוג הספרנים]
