Sefer Or La'yesharim, Sermons of Rabbi Zerach Eidlitz of Prague - first edition, Prague, 1885

The book was written and brought to print by his son, Rabbi Moshe, with the dates and places where he delivered the sermons and the details of the events.

This book was approved by the Noda be'yehuda. which, as is well known, gave few Haskamot.

In the first sermon of the book, he writes in favor of saying 'Le'shem Yihud' before prayer, this despite the fact that  the Noda be'yehuda objected to saying 'Le'shem Yihud', and even so ha gave his approval to this book.

In agreeing to the book, he wrote 'for surely the reader of these sermons will install in his heart reverence for his Creator and will be strengthened as a warrior to return to complete repentance'.

The Rebbe Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum of Satmar wrote that it seems that after Rabbi Zerach said this reason in favor of saying 'Le'shem Yihud', the Noda be'yehuda agreed to it.

Rabbi Avraham Moshe Zerach Eidlitz of Prague was born in 1725 in Prague to his father Rabbi Meir. His father died when he was young, and he grew up in the house of the city's rabbi - Rabbi Yonatan Eivshitz, from whom he learned his Torah.

He served as head of yeshiva in Prague and as a judge in the court of Rabbi Yehezkel Landa, the Noda be'yehuda.

הספר נכתב והובא לדפוס ע"י בנו רבי משה, עם ציון התאריכים והמקומות בהם נשא את הדרשות ורגלי המאורעות.

על ספר זה ניתנה הסכמת בעל הנודע ביהודה. אשר כנודע מיעט בהסכמות.

בדרוש הראשון בספר כותב רבינו שאמירת לשם יחוד היא עצה שלא יחטפו הסטרא אחרא את המצוות, זאת על אף שהנודע ביהודה התנגד לאמירת לשם יחוד, ואף על פי כן הסכים הנודע ביהודה לספרו.

בהסכמתו לספר כתב 'כי בוודאי הקורא בדרושים הללו יתן אל לבו יראת בוראו ויתגבר כארי לשוב בתשובה שלימה'.

האדמו"ר רבי יואל טייטלבוים מסאטמר כתב כי נראה שלאחר שאמר רבי זרח טעם זה - הסכים לכך הנודע ביהודה.

רבי אברהם משה זרח איידליץ מפראג [ה'תפ"ה – י"ב באייר ה'תק"מ] נולד בשנת תפ"ה בפראג לאביו רבי מאיר. אביו נפטר בצעירותו, והוא גדל בבית רב העיר - רבי יהונתן אייבשיץ, ממנו למד תורתו.

כיהן כראש ישיבה בפראג וכדיין בבית דינו של רבינו יחזקאל לנדא בעל הנודע ביהודה.
