A beautiful dedication in the handwriting of Rabbi Henoch Eherntroy - "נתון לאהבה אות ביום שלוח מנות, להבחור המופלא... מו"ה שמעון צבי דייטש, מגנצא תרמ"ד לפ"ק".

Rabbi Shimon Zvi Deitsch, one of the Great geniuses of Germany, served as Rabbi in several cities and in Fyorda. He authored the book 'Or Ha'Emet' (1908), which was written as a defense of words published by his friend Rabbi Henoch Eherntroy, the author of the dedication before us!

Along the pages of the book are handwritten proofs.

At the end of the book, several pages are bound, and in them is a preparation for the continuation of the essay, the fruit of the labor of the two aforementioned friendly geniuses. On most of the pages we find the writings of both of them.

Each page is dedicated to sentences and proverbs that begin with a certain letter, in alphabetical order. Under the letter N, Rabbi Deitch wrote a long sentence in Yiddish, which begins: "נקט מרגניתא בידיה".

Rabbi Henoch Eherntroy was born in Altaufen, near Budapest, to Rabbi Yona and Sara, daughter of Rabbi Wolf Bonihead of Donna-Sardhal. He studied with his father and with Rabbi Mordechai Amram Hirsch for many years in Prague and Hamburg.

From the age of 13 he studied at the yeshiva of Rabbi Feivel Floit in Shurani, and after three years at his yeshiva he moved to the yeshiva of the Ke'tav Sofer in Pressburg, where he studied for seven years.

Upon completion of his studies in Pressburg, he went to Mainz and served as a private teacher for sacred studies. He married Hanna, the daughter of his rabbi, Rabbi Mordechai Amram Hirsch. His wife died in her youth, as did his daughter Sara who died at the age of 24. He remarried Leitel Feuchtwanger, but she also died at the age of 47. In 1886, he was appointed as the rabbi of the ultra-Orthodox community "Kehal Yereim - Ohel Ya'akov" in Munich.

הקדשה נאה בכתב ידו של רבי חנוך עהרנטרוי - "נתון לאהבה אות ביום שלוח מנות, להבחור המופלא... מו"ה שמעון צבי דייטש, מגנצא תרמ"ד לפ"ק".

רבי שמעון צבי דייטש, מגאוני גרמניה, כיהן ברבנות בכמה ערים ובתוכן פיורדא. חיבר את הספר 'אור האמת' (תרס"ח), אשר נכתב כהגנה על דברים שפרסם ידידו רבי חנוך עהרנטרוי, כותב ההקדשה שלפנינו! (ראו שם בקדמת הספר את השתלשלות העניין)

לאורך דפי הספר הגהות בכתב יד.

בסוף הספר נכרכו כמה דפים, ובהם הכנה להמשך החיבור, פרי עמלם של שני הגאונים הידידים הנ"ל. ברוב העמודים אנו מוצאים כתיבות של שניהם.

כל עמוד מוקדש למשפטים ופתגמים המתחילים באות מסוימת, לפי סדר הא"ב. תחת האות נ' כתב הרב דייטש משפט ארוך ביידיש, שתחילתו: "נקט מרגניתא בידיה".

רבי חנוך עהרנטרוי נולד באלטאופן שליד בודפשט, לרב יונה ולשרה בתו של הרב וולף בוניהד מדונא-סרדהל. למד אצל אביו ואצל הרב מרדכי עמרם הירש, לימים רב בפראג ובהמבורג.

מגיל 13 למד בישיבתו של הרב פייבל פלויט בשוראני, ואחרי שלוש שנים בישיבתו עבר לישיבתו של הכתב סופר בפרשבורג, בה למד שבע שנים.

עם תום לימודיו בפרשבורג, נסע למיינץ ושימש כמורה פרטי ללימודי קודש. הוא נישא לחנה בתו של רבו, הרב מרדכי עמרם הירש. אשתו נפטרה בצעירותה, וכך גם בתו שרה שנפטרה בגיל 24. הוא נישא בשנית לייטל פויכטוונגר, אולם גם היא נפטרה בגיל 47. בשנת תרמ"ו, 1886, התמנה כרב הקהילה החרדית "קהל יראים - אהל יעקב" במינכן.
