A fascinating lengthily book: Torah and life in the Western countries in the Middle Ages [3 parts] - by Rabbi Dr. Moshe Gidman, the chief rabbi in Vienna
We have before us an enormous work in volume and quality, which practically covers the entire life of the Jews in the Middle Ages, both the Torah and Rabbinic as well as the practical and everyday. The rich information in the book draws us into a wonderful Jewish world, very different from the one we know today. It seems that there is no subject that the author, Rabbi Dr. Moshe Gidman, did not refer to in detail. The book is also full of wise comments and references to countless studies written on each and every topic.
The book contains three parts in one thick volume. It was printed in Warsaw, in the years 1897-1899.
The author, Rabbi Dr. Moshe Moritz Gideman, was a rabbi and historian, the chief rabbi of Vienna. He was an opponent of the Reformers, and despite his friendship with Herzl he was an opponent of Zionism and one of the leaders of the "Protest Rabbis".
Very good condition. A beautiful and preserved copy.
