Another title page in English, on which is printed in large print the impressive Beit Yaakov logo: Mount Sinai and the Tablets of the Covenant, the Temple lamp, and the Star of David.
Extremely rare! Never seen in sales! The copies printed from the play were intended for children, and were worn by their hands, so almost no copies were preserved, especially after the terrible Holocaust.
On the background of the writing of the play, one of her students said:
"Purim was a great holiday for us. Real joy. Esther's figure was in the eyes of Sarah Schnirer a symbol of the daughter of Israel who is determined to save her people in purity and holiness. She loved this holiday very much. In honor of the celebration she even wrote us a new play and we presented it to a large audience. We went to bed very late, and in the morning it was very difficult to get up. The head ached. But Sarah was already at the side of our bed: Get up, girls, for the sevice of the Creator. One should pray even if it is difficult to get up. praying from the heart - This is true reverence for God. And so it has instilled in us the importance of prayer, not in words, but in deeds."
The educator and author Mrs. Sarah Schnirer (1883-1935), a role model in ultra-Orthodox education, the founder of the ultra-Orthodox educational institutions for girls "Beit Yaakov".
During the First World War she fled to Vienna where she devoted her time to her educational mission to fight the Haskalah and bring the jewish girls back astray. Following the problematic educational atmosphere in Poland, Sarah Schnirer decided to establish educational institutions for girls in the spirit of Israel Saba under the name 'Beit Yaakov'. In 1919, she opened the first school in Krakow, where in addition to being the director of the institution, she taught all subjects in this school. Sarah Schnirer has great merits in this sacred work, which so exalted the spirit of the Torah and the commandments in the Jewish people.
As part of her educational work, Sarah Schnirer has authored about twenty essays in Yiddish, including fiction, children's books, plays, educational articles and religious instruction. She is considered a pioneer of literary writing among the ultra-Orthodox public. The plays were collected and reprinted in 1964, under the name 'Book of Plays'.
Rebbetzin Sarah Schnirer passed away in the month of Adar 1935, the month she loved so much, at the age fifty-two years. Thousands attended her funeral and paid her respects.
