The Belgian artist Pol Bury (1922-2005) is one of the founders of kinetic art.  Pol Bury created his Cinétisation (Cinetization) technique by segmenting static images into concentric circles or linear strips, reassembling them with slight offsets and vibrant color variations to simulate motion. Translating the slow, deliberate movements of his kinetic sculptures into print, Bury renders rigid structures as if they are vibrating, rippling, or buckling—capturing static kinetics on paper. Rooted in Surrealism and and Post-War Abstraction, he destabilizes iconic monuments, taking seemingly permanent landmarks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa and subjecting them to fluid distortion.
