Picture of the wonder-worker Rabbi Yeshayah of Kerestir. Original print that was printed in Hungary, just after the tzaddik's passing. Segulah for protection.

The top section bears the picture of the tzaddik, captioned with a copy of his signature: 'Yeshaye' ben ... Moshe z"l, who attended the tzaddik of Liska, zy"a.' This is followed by printed words about the tzaddik: "The image of a good-hearted man, who loved people and found favor in the eyes of the poor and destitute, the sanctified tzaddik, the pure menorah ... honest and faithful, filled with counsel and ingenuity, who worked great and awesome wonders ... with justice and lovingkindness for the poor and the wealthy, and his home was like that of Avraham Avinu, unique in his generation ... Rabbi Yeshayah Steiner, ztzuk"l. He passed away with a 'kiss' like Moshe Rabbeinu a"h, on the third day of Iyar, 1925." Printed on the bottom of the page in Hungarian: "Steiner Saje, Bodrogkereszturi (Kerestir) rabbi."

The tzaddik Rabbi Yeshayah of Kerestir - 'Rabbi Yeshayaleh Kerestirer' [1852-1925] was one of the most prominent Admo"rs of Hungary and one of the leading tzaddikim of his generation. He was known as the pillar of lovingkindness and prayer of his generation, and as a wonder-worker through the power of his prayers. His home was always wide open and many ate at his table. He distributed huge sums to charity and would say: "When rabbinic leaders are occupied with Kabbalistic secrets [רזין דרזין], I am occupied with 'for satiation and not for hunger' ['לשובע ולא לרזון']" He was famous for enacting open miracles, and from across all of Hungary, masses of Jews, and even gentiles, flocked to his home, requesting to be blessed by him and experience salvation. The Admor Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Belz said about him: "The key to livelihood is with Rabbi Yeshayah of Kerestir." To this day, many thousands visit his grave to pour out their hearts and many stories of salvation have been disseminated about prayer st his grave site.

There are those who hang his picture as a tried-and-true segulah to be saved from mice, as brought in the book Mei Be'er Yeshayahu.
