Sacred and Awesome: Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky's Tefillin Straps, Used by him on a Daily Basis

"... may the influence of the mitzvah of tefillin be drawn to me for a long life and an abundance of sanctity"

Rare and important ritual item -  shel yad and  shel rosh tefillin straps used by the  gadol hador, the Sar HaTorah, Rabbi Shmaryahu Chaim Kanievsky, on a daily basis. Including the  kesher shel tefillin. The  shel yad and  shel rosh tefillin boxes are also included.

The straps are well-preserved and can be used to complete a set of tefillin by connecting these distinguished straps to a new pair of tefillin, and they may be laid with a blessing  l'chatchilah.

Gedolei hador revealed the great extent of the sanctity concealed in ritual objects owned by tzaddikim, as well as their vessels, and their power to effect salvation. The Talmud Yerushalmi (Nedarim 9:5a) states: "He had Rabbi Meir’s staff in his hand, and it taught him wisdom." The Midrash Rabbah in Shir HaShirim, first chapter, states regarding the verse  l'reiach shmenayich tovim: “Rabbi Eliezer’s  beit midrash was [shaped] like an eyelash, and one stone there was designated as his seat. Once Rabbi Yehoshua entered and began to kiss that stone, declaring: "This stone is like Mount Sinai, and he who sat upon it is like the ark of the covenant!" The Chatam Sofer (Parashat Toldot, "HaLo …") explains: “The Yerushalmi implies at the beginning of Perek V’Eilu Megalchin that a person’s garb is influenced by the sanctity of its wearer - and this is also true in the reverse - so one who wears it after him receives that same spirit for better or worse. This is the secret by which a person’s sons wear them after him.” The Ba’al Hafla’ah, in his work  Panim Yafot (Bereishit 14:22) writes as follows, with respect to the property of tzaddikim: “And also in the opposite direction, that is, property of tzaddikim had spiritual inspiration upon it, as we found in dor hamidbar, about whom it is written that their clothes did not wear out, etc.” The Munkatcher Rebbe, in his sefer, Divrei Torah (first edition, section 22) writes that an item that was used by a tzaddik, even a material item, has the ability to grant wisdom, how much more so the benefits of this world …"

This is the most important personal ritual item (a Torah scroll is a communal ritual item) - the sacred tefillin straps with which the Sar HaTorah would bind himself to his Creator each and every day for the long hours of his famed prayers for the salvation of one and all, when he would pray k'vatikin at sunrise, and while at the many ritual circumcisions that would take place in his study hall after morning prayers, when he served as sandek.
