Lengthy Letter in the Hand of Rabbi Yochanan of Tolna Mentioning the Bobov Community Leaders, Rabbi Chaim Shlaf and Rabbi Moshe David Shtrom
50-line letter with much content handwritten and signed by Rabbi Yochanan of Tolna, mentioning the Bobov leaders, Rabbi Chaim Shlaf and Rabbi Moshe David Shtrom.
" Also, tell Mr. Shlaf and Mr. Shtrom, whom I heard are Bobov Chassidim, that my brother-in-law, the Admo'r of Stertin, shlit" a, stayed with my relative, R' Shlomo Halberstam, shlit" a, of Bobov, before he traveled to the Land of Israel; he wondrously brought him close with pomp and circumstance, to all his Chassidim ..."
The Admo" r Rabbi Yochanan Twerski of Tolna was the fourth Admo" r of the Tolna dynasty. He was born in Tultchin, Ukraine. After his wedding, he lived in Montreal and served as Admo" r there. He ascended to the Land of Israel in 1955 and established the Chassidism there. He lived for a period in Sha'arei Chessed, and then he led the Chassidut from Bayit Vegan. He conducted himself with piety and humility.
