Marriage Certificate Signed by the Admo"r Moshe Mordechai Biderman of Lelov. 1946. One of a Kind Document
Official marriage certificate, [11 words] handwritten and signed by the Admo"r Moshe Mordechai Biderman of Lelov.
The Admo"r himself, aside from officiating at the wedding, was also one of the witnesses. The Rebbe filled in the names of the witnesses and their occupations by hand, in addition signing the document. For his own occupation, he wrote: 'Admo"r.' The second witness was community leader R' Avraham Parshanovski-Parshan, the Admo"r's in-law and grandfather of Rabbi Ya'akov Yitzchak Biderman, chief Chaba"d emissary of Vienna, Austria, and professor of Jewish philosophy.
It is important to note that handwritten documents by Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Biderman are rare in and of themselves. The marriage certificate before us in apparently one-of-a-kind, because the Admo"r refused to officiate at weddings his whole life, due to the fact that the honor of officiating at weddings is the province of the local rabbi (according to his son, the Admo"r of Nikolsberg, shlit"a).
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a detailed biography of the Admo"r Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Biderman.
