They are among the most important works of the leading Later Authorities on Talmudic tractates.
Rabbi Ya'akov Ettlinger [1798-1832] was the Av Beit Din of Altona, one of the leaders of Orthodox Jewry and the highest rabbinic authority among the rabbis of Ashkenaz. (See more about him in this catalog.)
