Letter from Rabbi Aharon Tzvi, Son of Mahara"m Brisk, Av Beit Din of Arad, to Chief Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Herzog. 1951
In his letter, Rabbi Aharon presents Rabbi Herzog with an interesting halachic question that spans two pages.
Due to a law passed by an army officer that all army personnel must prepare themselves on Shabbat (for Sunday) by cleaning his clothing and footwear 'and shaving his beard' and due to the fact that in most cases this cannot be done except on Shabbat, there are two ways for them to shave their beards - through the services of a non-Jew using a razor or the Jew doing it himself using a drug, and he brings proofs from Talmudic sugyas.
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of Rabbi Aharon Tzvi Brisk and Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog.
