Response Letter from Rabbi Yitzchak Dov HaLevi Bamberger – Würzburg [1872]
Lengthy letter written on both sides of the leaf by famed genius Rabbi Yitzchak Dov HaLevi Bamberger of Würzburg [1808-1879]. [1] letterhead, written on both its sides. Responses to four questions on various subjects posed by the questioner. Written in 1872 to his son, Yitzchak Zekel [1840-1885], who served as rabbi in Frankfurt. Rabbi Yitzchak Dov was appointed Rabbi of Wurzburg in 1840. He was one of the prominent Torah scholars of his generation and merited many students, sons, sons-in-law and grandchildren who became famed rabbis. He wrote prominent works of halacha and Talmud, Sefer Yad HaLevi, Moreh L’Zochim and more. The front has tears with loss of text. Moderate condition.
