Two rare booklets from the era of the Mandate. Tourist guidebook for the Old City of Jerusalem, 1935. The Jewish battle against missionaries, 1940s. * [8] pages. Madrich L’Olim L’Tzion [guidebook for pilgrims to Zion]. Yeshayahu Peres. 1940s. This early tourist guidebook describes the sites in the Old City, including the Western Wall, the courtyard of Rabbi Yehuda Hachassid and Yeshivat Porat Yosef. Yeshayahu Peres (1874-1954) was an educator and researcher of Eretz Yisrael. He was born in Jerusalem and helped revive the Hebrew language and build Jerusalem. Filing holes, rare, very fine condition. * [60 pages], Pinchas Ben Zvi Grayevsky, “Milchemet HaYehudim B’Mision”. Jerusalem, 1935. 25 cm. Booklet published on behalf of the “committee for the battle against foreign education”. It describes missionary activities and the battle against them, from 1924 until the booklet was printed. Pinchas Grayevsky (1873-1941) was an author who documented Jewish life in Jerusalem. Rare, very fine condition.
