Unique archive featuring unique documentation of Zionist activity from its early beginnings in 1882 through the 1930s. Includes receipts, documents and letters from Bucharest and Piteşti. *Handwritten letter on official stationery, 1882. * Rabbinical letter in Yiddish to Rabbi Cahanvosky by Rabbi Chaim Yonah. *Postcard of Herzl and colleagues at the opening of “Der Welt”, 1896, with many signatures on the back of the postcard. * 2 posters. Local JNF bureau, 1922. Appeal in Romanian to join the Zionist Organization. *[26] letters and receipts from Ort, JNF, Keren HaYesod and other Zionist organizations in Romania. *[2] Yizkor booklets from JNF. 1930s and 1946. The first booklet features the HaTikvah anthem on its back, with the original lyrics. *’L’Ir Bah Dovid Chana”. [1] 19 pages. Political platform of Moshe Smilansky and Dr. M. Helfman, Bucharest, 1939. Some of the leaves are torn. Overall very fine condition.
