Pitron Chalomot. Amsterdam, [1637]. Printed by Menashe ben Yisrael for the King's Advisor Isaac Montalto
Pitron Chalomot by Rabbi Shlomo Almoli. Printed per the command of the complete sage and master philosopher ... Yitzchak Montalto. Amsterdam, Menashe ben Yisrael press. [1637]. Rare work.
Expansive work about dream interpretations according to the gemara in Tractate Berachot and early commentators, particularly that of Rabbi Hai Gaon. Along with halachic aspects of dreams such as fasting in the wake of a dream on Shabbat and more.
The work was first printed in Constantinople in 1515 under the title Mipasher Chalamin. Menashe ben Yisrael printed this work per the request of his friend Rabbi Yitzchak Montalto, advisor to King Louis XIII of France. Rabbi Yitzchak was the son of Rabbi Eliyahu Montalto, famed Jewish doctor who received special permission from the Pope to administer to the king and his mother, while observing Torah and mitzvot. Menashe ben Yisrael employed the Montalto's connection to the rulers of France and England in his diplomatic efforts on behalf of the Jewish community.
