Non-traditional haggadah, stencil print with illustrations. Original passages referring to the Holocaust, partisans, illegal immigration, and more.
There is an interesting text referring to the fate of Holocaust survivors coming to the gates of the Land: 'The sons of Israel and its daughters, the remnants of Israel, return by sea, naked and with nothing at all, with the remnants of their strength, to the only save haven left to them ... by way of all the waves of terror and malice, through all the surges of alienation and betrayal, our ships come to anchor on the one shore, the only one left ... the cargo of precious survivors, to bring them to the shores of the homeland.'
A Yizkor text written just a few years after the Holocaust already refers to later events, and focuses as well on the Brigade soldiers who fell in battle against the Nazis, the partisans and the casualties of the illegal immigration who fell at the hands of the British: 'The people of Israel shall remember its sons and daughters ... the tens of thousands of its sons who died a human death at war with the German animals in all the nations' armies. We shall remember the Jewish partisans and the ghetto fighters ... We shall remember the casualties of the illegal immigration who drowned in cruel waves and were murdered by the cruel government while fleeing from the land of their graves. We shall remember the defenders who fell in the struggle for the redemption of the people ...' There are also passages of 'revenge' [a passage opening with the words 'and if there is justice, it will appear immediately'] and more.
There is another passage opening with the words: 'Masada, open your gates' which refers to the difficulties of acclimatization to the Land of Israel. There is an interesting passage under the title 'Be strong' describing the advantages of the 'strong' vs. the 'weak' and more.
