Especially Rare: Mishnayot Taharot. Prague, 1617. First Edition of the Tosafot Yom Tov Commentary
Mishnayot Seder Taharot with Rabbi Ovadiyah of Bartenura's commentary and the "Tosefet Yom Tov" commentary - among the most important commentaries on the Mishnah, by Rabbi Yom Tov Lipmann HaLevi Heller, known over the generations as the author of Tosafot Yom Tov. Moshe Katz Press, Prague, 1617 [ שע"ז chronogram: "שנה טובה"]. Incomplete copy.
Among the important fundamental editions of the mishnayot, in which the commentary by the gadol hadorot, the av beit din of Prague, Rabbi Yom Tov Lipmann HaLevi Heller, was printed for the first time. This commentary was his primary claim to fame; it became a foundation stone of commentary on the mishnah from the publication of the first edition and until today. In this first edition, the commentary is still called "Tosefet Yom Tov" [in the singular]. In later editions, the name was changed to "Tosafot Yom Tov" [in the plural].
