Sefer Chassidim. Krakow, 1581. Important Early Edition, Fully Complete

Sefer Chassidim by Rabbi Yehudah HeChassid. Kraków, Yitzchak Ben Aharon of Přeštice Press, 1581.

Second or third edition of this important sefer, printed in many dozens of editions. Another edition was printed that same year in Basel, but this edition here is much rarer.

The sefer was brought to print by Rabbi Moshe, a disciple of the Maharsha"l, author of Mateh Mosheh, as noted in his sefer Taryag Mitzvot, printed in Kraków that same year.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Yehudah b"r Shmuel HeChassid.

Especially rare sefer, in beautiful condition. The title page of the copy scanned in the National Library is slightly blemished.

Several short handwritten glosses along the leaves of the sefer, and one especially lengthy gloss.

147 leaf, mispaginated. 18 cm. With all the tens of leaves of indices!

Very fine condition. A few moth holes in the last pages. Minimal aging stains. New leather binding.
