Handwritten Eulogy by the Gaon Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis for his Rabbi, the Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk. Unknown!

Rare and especially important: historic manuscript, entirely handwritten and signed by the gaon hageonim, Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis, rabbi of Jerusalem, and author of L'Flagot Reuven. The manuscript contains a bitter and lengthy eulogy for his teacher and rabbi, the gadol hador Rabbeinu Chaim HaLevi of Brisk. [Lithuania, 1918.] Unknown.

For four densely and clearly written pages, Rabbi Bengis mourns bitterly over the passing of his teacher and rabbi, the gaon Rabbi Chaim HaLevi of Brisk. The manuscript is clearly written to be delivered in public and not to be published in writing. To the best of our examination, we have not found the eulogy printed anywhere. Even in his sefer, L'Flagot Reuven Part II (Festivals, Tana"ch, Talmud and Midrashim) which contains eulogies delivered by Rabbi Bengis, this eulogy is not included.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the gaon Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis.
