Shevilei Emunah. Amsterdam, 1627. Especially Rare Sefer

Shevilei Emunah - large work on faith and personal conduct, with ten paths, by Rabbi Meir ibn Aldabi of Spain. Amsterdam, 1627. Especially rare sefer. Lacking the end.

Rabbi Meir Ben Yitzchak Aldabi of Spain, a Kabbalist, was the Ro"sh's grandson. He was born in Tolitola [Toledo?], and was exiled from Spain. He ascended to Jerusalem towards the end of his life.

The sefer includes ten paths:

  1. Belief in the creator and His Oneness
  2. The riddle of the world and Heavenly movements
  3. The creation of Adam and Chavah
  4. The creation of man and the character of his organs
  5. Healthy physical conduct
  6. The soul and the intellect
  7. Mental health
  8. Oral Torah
  9. Reward and punishment
  10. Redemption, revival and the World to Come

One of the first sefarim printed in Amsterdam.

Rare sefer; to the best of our knowledge, it has not appeared at auction for about twenty years.

115 leaf, the final 3 leaves in photocopy. 21 cm. Illustrations.

Fine condition. Artistic restoration of the white margins of the title page and the last five leaves (with damage to isolated words). Magnificent English leather binding.
