Mohel's Ledger with Hundreds of Names of the Circumcised. Europe, 1860-1871

Sefer Sod Hashem - ritual circumcision service with dinim and commentaries [Vienna, 1814; lacking the title page.] This sefer was the property of a prominent mohel who was active in Europe in the 19th century and kept a precise list of those circumcised by him. Kowalewitz? 1860-1871. The content of the list has not been examined.

Twelve pages bound at the end of the sefer with precise details of 400 boys circumcised by this mohel 1860-1871. The list details the father's name, the family name, the date of the brit, and occasionally also the parents' place of residence. At the end of each year, the mohel wrote something of a hadran and a connection to the new year, for example, "I will give praise and thanks to Hashem who has kept us alive and brought us to the year [ברכ"ו א"ת ה' לפ"ג"].

HaSefer Brit Hashem: 18 cm. Lacking the title page and approximately [2] leaves.

Manuscript: [12] pp. 18 cm.

Overall fine condition. Aging stains. New binding.
