Ohr HaChammah - Kabbalah. First Edition, Published at the Initiative of the Admo"r of Shinova. Pedigree Copy

Sefer Or HaChammah - elucidation of Sefer HaZohar, Part I on Sefer Bereishit, by Rabbi Avraham Azoulay (I), author of Chessed L'Avraham and great-great-grandfather of the Chid"a. Jerusalem, 1876. The last leaf bears a passage from the one who brought it to print, who writes that Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam of Shinova was the person who initiated printing this sefer.

During the Shinova Rebbe's famous trip to the Land of Israel, he miraculously discovered this manuscript, which had previously been in the Chid"a's possession (the Chid"a mentions it in his Shem HaGedolim) and had been lost ever since. When the Shinova Rebbe saw the manuscript at a local bookshop, he spent a large fortune to redeem it from the merchant, and then paid printers in Jerusalem to publish this sefer that was so important to him.

The volume opens with an approbation from the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, father of the Rebbe of Shinova, given in the final few months of his life. The last page of the sefer already refers to him as being deceased. The author of Divrei Chaim of Sanz, who felt the importance of this work just like his son, writes wondrous things about it in his approbation: "Is it not renowned among the sacred works ... sweet light and wondrous light covered and illuminating for all" and the Divrei Chaim concludes his approbation with huge blessings for the purchaser of this sefer: "He will be blessed with much goodness and the merit of the sacred author will protect him, body and soul, offspring, abundant sustenance and give him the merit to greet the Righteous Redeemer."

This sefer was published by Rabbi Yitzchak Bihem, and Rabbi Shneur Zalman Schneerson, grandson of the Ba'al HaTanya and author of Nimukei Shzavan"i. Beautiful dedication on the title page, slightly cropped, handwritten by the publisher Rabbi Shneur Zalman Schneerson. The dedication is addressed to Rabbi Yosef Tumarkin, av beit din of Kremenchug and one of the Admo"r, the Tzemach Tzeddek's close associate. With the publisher's stamps and the recipient's stamp.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Shneur Zalman Schneerson.
