Baruch Ta'am. First Edition. First Work of the Divrei Chayim of Sanz's Insights ever Printed!

Sefer Baruch Ta'am - novellae on Talmudic topics and responsa by the gaon Rabbi Baruch Frankel Teomim, av beit din of Leipnik. With an approbation by the Chatam Sofer. Lvov, 1841. First edition.

The sefer was edited anonymously by the Admo"r Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz, author of Divrei Chayim and son-in-law of the author. He includes a detailed index of the contents of the simanim and se'ifim. The Divrei Chayim printed a special foreword he wrote for the sefer at its beginning, also anonymously.

The Admo"r Rabbi Chaim of Sanz also added dozens of lengthy glosses of his own printed in the margins of the sheets, all anonymously. It was only from the second edition of this sefer - which was printed after the Divrei Chayim's passing - that his name was added to the title page. The Divrei Chayim's glosses printed in this sefer were the first novellae of his to appear in print.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the gaon Rabbi Baruch Teomim-Frankel.
