Marriage certificate signed by the Mara D'Ara Yisrael - the mighty gaon Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld. Jerusalem [1926]
Marriage certificate for the wedding of R' Yuda Leib Zwebner and his bride, Sheindel Leah Feldman. The wedding took place on Rosh Chodesh Sivan, 1926 in Batei Hungarin in Jerusalem. The witnesses were R' David Ginwald and R' Pinchas Hurwitz. The officiating rabbi was the Mara D'Ara Yisrael - leader of the Land of Israel - the great gaon Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfled, who signed his name in full.
The first secretary of HaEdah HaCharedit, R' Baruch Reuven Shomo Jungreis, also signed the document, and it also features a faded ink stamp from the Bada"tz.
This is one of the earliest marriage certificates from the Bada"tz Edah HaChareidit, from the period in which it still used its previous name, Va'ad HaIr L'Kehillat HaAshkenazim. [The word "HaIr" is crossed out due to divisions in the Edah HaChareidit.] This certificate bears the serial number 448, and the Bada"tz Edah HaChareidit has already registered at least hundreds of thousands.
