Beautiful Letter from the Gaon Rabbi Shimon Shkop, Author of Sha'arei Yosher. Grodno, 1932

"Un Birkat Kohen, Shimon Yehudah HaKohen Shkop"

Very beautiful letter by the progenitor of the yeshivish style of learning and leading rosh yeshivah, the gaon Rabbi Shimon Yehudah HaKohen Shkop, author of Sha'arei Yosher and rosh yeshivah of Sha'ar HaTorah in Grodno. Grodno [Lithuania], 1931. Hebrew and Yiddish.

This letter was sent towards the end of the Sha'arei Yosher's life (two years after the publication of the famous 'Jubilee Book' that summarized fifty years of his teaching Torah). The letter is addressed to a couple of benefactors from among the yeshivah's donors, Rabbi Nissan son of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaLevi and his wife, Pesha, granddaughter of "the true gaon, the pious tzaddik ... Rabbi Akiva Eiger ... who follows in his true ways." The Sha'arei Yosher concludes his letter with blessings: "May you be blessed among the women in the tent and arise ever higher ... Birkat Kohen, Shimon Yehudah HaKohen Shkop."

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the gaon Rabbi Shimon Yehudah HaKohen Shkop.

[1] leaf paper, 8.5x11 cm. Official stationery, high-quality and with watermarks, handwritten by the Sha'arei Yosher, with his personal stamp and the yeshivah stamp.
