Letter of Encouragement 'To the Warriors for the Holy Downtrodden Shabbat' Signed by the Gaon of Tchebin and Additional Rabbis, [1960]

Letter encouraging the purehearted and couragous souls who rose up to fight the battle of Shabbat who 'almost no one cares for, except one in a city and two in a family.' Signatures of rabbis in the margins of the letter, including the signature of the Gaon of Tchebin, Rabbi Dov Berish Weidenfeld and additional rabbis. Jerusalem, Tevet 1960. Stencil print.

"The Shabbat Queen, the purpose of heaven and earth, has become despised and plundered in the palace of the king, in the land of the holy and of the Temple. She is crushed and uprooted, heaven forbid, maliciously and unintentionally, in public as in private, and the matter has come to the point that, due to our many sins, many workers, whose fathers stood at Mount Sinai and heard 'Zachor et Yom HaShabbat L'Kadsho!' from the mouth of the Alm-ghty, work in industry and labor, whether by force or by will, and there is almost no sickness or notice."

In the letter, the rabbis turn to all those whose hearts and souls moved them to take action for the sake of Shabbat with the request: 'Strengthen Your hands and the grace of Hash-m should be protect you so that the work of your hands will be successful ... we are sure that while you begin in anguish, you will end very proud ... May Hash-m be with you, mighty warriors.'

The signatures of the gaon of Tchebin Rabbi Dov Berish Weidenfeld [1881-1966] appears in the margins of the letter, as well as that of Rabbi Yehuda Tzadkah, the head of chinuch atzma'i Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin, and additional rabbis.
