Letter of Honor and Respect from Rabbi Chaim Meir Ungar, Av Beit Din of Lackenbach, to Rabbi Akiva Sofer, Ga'avad of Pressburg. Jerusalem

Letter of honor and respect on the occasion of the Pressburg yeshivah students' reunion in the Holy Land, sent by Rabbi Chaim Meir Ungar, av beit din of Lackenbach, to the gaon Rabbi Akiva Sofer, ga'ava"d of Pressburg, when he was in Tel Aviv (the gathering was apparently held in Tel Aviv).

His letter opens with extreme titles as befits the gaon hador, one of the leading teachers of Torah in Hungary, scion of the Chatam Sofer along the male line.

He gives his blessing with much love and excitement upon the reunion of the Pressburg yeshivah students in the Holy Land, "to whom our rabbis, the sacred geonim, cedars of Lebanon, knights of Torah, taught Torah and reverence. We live by the words of their mouths - the Chatam Sofer, the Ktav Sofer and the Shevet Sofer, may their memory protect us, and, maran, shlit"a.

He adds a personal blessing for the Da'at Sofer - that he be privileged to continue the legacy of his great grandfather, the Chatam Sofer, in the Land of Israel as well, "And I will pray to Hashem that [your] banner be raised, and that you achieve great things in the dissemination of Torah and reverence among the remnants of the Jewish people, in the hearts of our brethren for whom the spark of Judaism and the eternal ways of our fathers from the rabbi of the entire Jewish people, our patriarch the Chatam Sofer - who still whispers in their hearts, and all who were influenced by him awaken and gird themselves unrestrained to raise the banner of Torah and reverence ..."
