Complete Work on the Sifra by the 'Keter Kehunah' - Thousands of Handwritten Lines

Sefer Sifra-Torat Kohanim with a commentary by the R"Sh of Sandz and Hagahot Mahari"d by Rabbi Ya'akov David [Biderman] of Wyszogród. Warsaw, 1866. First edition of the commentary by the R"sh of Sandz. Thousands of lines of glosses appear all along the margins across the length of the sefer, some extremely lengthy, handwritten by the Sar HaTorah, the gaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch HaKohen Wolk, renowned rabbi of Pinsk and author of the important and fundamental commentary Keter Kehunah on the Sifri.

The many glosses on the margins of the sheets comprise almost a complete work on the Sifra, and they were printed in the first edition of Sifra D'Bei Rav (Ofek edition, 1998). It states there in the introduction: "The manuscript by the gaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch b"r Azriel Wolk z"l, av beit din of Pinsk, preserved by the author's son, Rabbi Mordechai Gimpel Wolk z"l ... these important writings ... are comments by the gaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Wolk, author of Keter Kehunah. The comments were written in the margins of his Sefer Torat Kohanim with the R"sh of Sandz and Hagahot HaRi"d, published in 1866 [this very copy] with two types of comments - comments on Torat Kohanim and comments on the commentary attributed to R"sh of Shadz. The comments attributed to R"sh of Shadz we included here in our comments in general with a note as to their author, and the comments that deal with Torat Kohanim we presented in the sefer's third section."

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the gaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch HaKohen Wolk.
