The Chid"a's Copy of Ohr Olam: Ma'amar Kaddishin. Only Edition. The Chid"a's Signature Appears on the Title Page

Sefer Ma'amar Kaddishin on Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat, by Rabbi Kyam Kaddish son of Rabbi Kyam Kaddish. Prague, 1764. Only edition.

Personal copy of the light of the world, Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azoulay - the Chid"a. His calligraphic signature appears on the title page: 'The youth Chaim Yosef David Azoulay S"T.'

Sefer Ma'amar Kaddishin is a rare early halachic work cited as an important source in halachic literature. On the title page: "I have firmly established and closely abbreviated the halachic decisions of the Sm"a, the Sha"ch, the Ta"z, the Knesset HaGedolah, the Tz"tz, the Avodat HaGershuni, Shev Ya'akov, Panim Meirot, Shvut Ya'akov, Even HaShoham, Beit Ya'akov, Teshuvot R"i HaLevi - brother of the Ta"z and Sha'ar Teshuvot, and I added some of my own ..." The last page has a list of twenty-four regulations from Poland's Pinkas Arba Aratzot. The sefer is adorned with approbations from gedolei hador: Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz, Rabbi Yechezkel Landau - author of Noda BiYehudah, Rabbi Yitzchak HaLevi Horowitz - av beit din of Brod, and others. Rare book that was never reprinted.

The author Rabbi Kyam Kaddish was a disciple of Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz. He was born after the passing of his father, who was also named "Kyam Kaddish." There is a theory that the father, too, was born after his own father's passing, hence his name, "Kaddish."

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Chaim Yosef  David Azoulay - the Chid"a.

"Over in Italy, there is a great tzaddik, who, by his works, neutralizes all the books on heresy. Who would have known that the hearts of the Jewish people would study sefarim by the Chid"a, and as a result be immovable from their faith?" (The Noam Elimelech of Lizhensk)
