Beit Yosef, Yoreh Deah, Venice, 1574. Glosses Handwritten by a Disciple of the Rama"s!

Tur Yoreh Dea with the Beit Yosef Commentary. Di Gara Press, 1574. With handwritten glosses by a disciple of the Ram"a!

Early edition of the important halachic work Beit Yosef printed in the lifetime of the author, Rabbi Yosef Karo. As written on the title page: " May Hashem grant him length of days and good years ..."
In the introduction: He was assisted from Heaven, Hashem awakened the spirit of Alvise Bragadin ... to print this section of Yoreh Deah precisely ... He left nothing out from what was requested by Rabbi Yosef's messengers said."

Many glosses in the leaves of the sefer both in the margins and betwween the lines, mainly in hilchot treifot.

Some of the glosses cite "Mori Mma"i, Mori HaRam"a and Mor"i Mhar"i." These refer to Rabbi Moshe Isserlis, the Ram"a, and the indication in these glosses is that their source is Hagahot HaRam"a al HaShulchan Aruch. The writer refers to the Ram"a as his teacher, hence the conclusion that he was a disciple of the Ram"a. These early glosses were written when the Shulchan Aruch and the Hagahot Haram"a were relative novelties, hence his notes in Sefer Beit Yosef about Hagahot HaRam"a.
