Afar Ya'akov, Only Edition. With a Halachic Responsum by the Author of 'Bat Ayin'

Afar Ya'akov, two parts. Part I: Debate between the soul and the spirit. Part II: Novellae and in-depth studies by Rabbi Ya'akov Eichhorn. With a halachic responsum by the Admo'r Rabbi Avraham Dov of Ovrutch, author of Bat Ayin. Breslau, 1839. Only edition.

The author was one of the sages of Kraków. He ascended to Safed in the summer of 1830, but later returned to Kraków to serve as a rabbi there. Approbations to this book from several Safed rabbis: Rabbi Yisrael of Shklov; Rabbi Zerachiah Nissim Azoulay and Rabbi Avraham Anehorai, who were both killed in the 1837 Safed earthquake. Additional approbations.

On leaf 30 (of the second pagination) the author wrote that he considered printing the book in Safed via Rabbi Yisrael Beck: "And when I was there, in the Holy Land ... I wanted to print this work there, and the rabbi, the gaon Rabbi Avraham Ber (of Ovrutch) was a close associate of the printer's, and I gave him my work so that it would be a buttress for me." The author then cites: "The responsum of the rabbi, the gaon Avraham Ber, av beit din of Novruch" - a lengthy halachic responsum, ending with "... words of the rabbi, the gaon Rabbi Avraham Ber, av beit din of Ovruch, refuting all my words" after which the author rebuts this responsum.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Avraham Dov of Ovrutch.
