Gdi Mekulas. Only Edition. [Altona], 1770. Rare

Gdi Mekulas, unique commentary on the hymn Chad Gadya 'revealing the secret of the Chad Gadya hymn, ' printed in large letters, surrounded by the commentary by Rabbi Moshe Avraham Aberli of Norden. [Altona] without the name of a printer, 1770. Only edition. Uncommon sefer.

The printer concealed his name. It is worth noting that that same year there were two printers in Altona. One was Rabbi Ya'akov Emden, who established a press in his home, to print his own sefarim. The second printer was Moshe Bun Segal. This second printer would print his name on the title pages of the sefarim, unlike Rabbi Ya'akov Emden, who would omit the name of his press due to the volume of sefarim he printed in his home.

In his sefer, Gdi Mekulas, the author explains the riddle of the hymn 'Chad Gadya, ' primarily as it related to Christianity and Islam, who tried with all their might to lead the Jewish people astray from their traditions and their faith. For this reason, there were sharp statements written by the author - but the printer[?] was concerned about printing them.

In the last two leaves, the author discusses the greatness of the Ibn Ezra in his commentary, and explains several difficulties. He also resolves some difficulties in the words of the Zohar, which apparently cites words from the tana'im who apparently lived after the Rashb"i.

Ya'ari 164; Otzar HaHaggadot 254.
