Set of Tana"ch, "Arba'ah V'Esrim, with explanations of all the difficulties in Lashon Sepharadi [Ladino], absolutely the most beautiful and perfect, brought to print by Rabbi Moshe de Castro ... Livorno, 1803-1805. Two elegant volumes, including four parts, with separate title pages (Chamishah Chumshei Torah, Nevi'im Rishonim, Nevi'im Acharonim and Ketuvim).
Proofread Tana"ch, with the mitzvah count and the hafatarahs. Ladino explanations of the difficult words in the page margins. The book opens with a lengthy compilation on grammatical rules by Rabbi Simchah Kalimani.
Especially elegant set of Tana"ch, by every parameter: the etchings in the margins of each of the 24 sefarim, the thick paper, the gilt page edges, the special flyleaves, the magnificent color bindings, the gilt imprints (the strong color, preserved over the years, shows that they may have been imprinted with real gold).
Owners' signatures and notations appear at the beginnings of both volumes in Oriental script.
