Rare Gur Letter Loaded with Handwritten Blessings from the Beit Yisrael of Gur about the High Holidays in Gur

"May Hashem bring proper shidduchim for your grandsons and granddaughters, and may we hear only good news"

Historic Gur letter of rare length, with important content, loaded with blessings for joy from descendants, proper shidduchim, health and a complete recovery, to be sealed for the good and more. Entirely handwritten and signed by the sacred Jew, Rabbi Yisrael Alter of Gur - one of the leading Admo"rim of the generations. Jerusalem, Sunday, the fast of Gedaliah [4 Tishrei, 1957].

The letter was sent to the Rebbe's dear friend, the gaon and Chassid Rabbi Avraham Binyamin Zilberberg, "The Pittsburgher Rebbe." The Beit Yisrael's letters are usually written very briefly - "sharf" - this letter is rare in its length [19 lines] and rare in its contents, and with the Beit Yisrael's  sacred blessings.

In the first part of the letter, the Beit Yisrael describes the Rosh HaShanah prayers at the large study hall in Gur to his Chassid and dear friend. As is known, during the high holidays, Gur Chassidim gather together from around the world to the Rebbe's beit midrash. Due to the tremendous natural growth, bli ain hara, the large study hall became too small to contain "everyone" and it had to be expanded and renovated. In this letter, written, as stated, in 1957 (already then!), the Beit Yisrael describes one of the expansions of the beit midrash.

It is exciting to read the Beit Yisrael's rare description about the prayer during the high holidays. This description could have been written by the sacred Rebbe (who was known to have been separate from the masses) to only a few people - the Rebbe's close friends: "On Rosh HaShanah, we prayed Mussaf on the lower level of the study hall, and there was plenty of room for prayer. It seems that "everyone" was happy with it, and Hashem will surely help and it will be completed soon.

The second part of the letter is no less important. It is filled with tremendous blessings handwritten by a tzaddik of the generations. Blessings for all areas of life, with a special emphasis on shidduchim and healing: "May Hashem bring proper shidduchim for your grandsons and granddaughters, to the joy of their parents and your own joy. May we hear only good news. May Hashem send a complete recovery to [your wife]." Your friend ... with wishes that you be sealed for the good ... awaiting the ultimate redemption, Yisrael." After that, the Rebbe repeats his blessings for the rest of the family.
