"The Power of Blessings from Tzaddikim!" Rare Segulah Leaf Handwritten by the Admo"r Rabbi Hersheleh of Liska. Unprinted
"And this is the blessing blessed by Moshe, man of G-d, to the Jewish people"
Most sacred! Two large pages densely yet very clearly handwritten by the leading wonder-worker, Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Liska. The manuscript deals with the power of a tzaddik's influence, and how his blessings take effect. Inter alia, the Rebbe of Liska mentions the Chata"m Sofer in his famous will. Liska, c. 1860. Including the famous doctrine about clinging to tzaddikim. Not printed.
This manuscript consists of two very important Chassidic doctrines, each on a separate page. The first doctrine deals with the power of a tzaddik's blessing and how he has the merit that his blessings will indeed materialize. The Liska Rebbe opens this rare segulah doctrine with Moshe Rabbeinu's famous blessing "And this is the blessing blessed by Moshe, man of G-d, to the Jewish people." Later on he brings additional blessings and examples from major Jewish leaders: Moshe Rabbeinu, David HaMelech and the Chata"m Sofer(!). As is known, manuscripts by tzaddikim of the generations are used as amulets for blessings and success - how much more so this rare manuscript that deals with exactly this subject, blessings from tzaddikim of the generations, with verses of blessing and segulah handwritten by the leading wonder-worker of Hungary.
The second doctrine also deals with a tzaddik hador. The rebbe of Liska writes the famous thought on the verse, "Now, Yisrael, what does Hashem, your G-d ask of you, just to fear ..." The gemera in Berachot (33b) asks on this passuk "Is fear of Heaven a small matter?" The gemara answers "Yes, for Moshe Rabbeinu, fear of Heaven is a small matter." There is a well-known question - although for Moshe Rabbeinu [לגבי משה רבינו] fear of Heaven is a small matter, doesn't the Torah speak to all Jews? The Rebbe of Liska resolves this here: "For those who lived in the days of Moshe Rabbeinu and saw all the miracles and wonders, fear of Heaven was indeed a small matter." (The word לגבי here can be interpreted in both ways.)
These are the gevillim upon which the Liska Rebbe wrote his famous 'Torahs' with his own hand. He would deliver them to his Chassidim during his pure tisches. These doctrines were described by his grandson Rabbi Ze'ev Wolf, in the foreword to Sefer HaYashar V'HaTov: "Our master was glorious in those sacred days, when he stood before the holy ark dressed in white, his face burning like embers and torches, with the visage of a G-dly angel, his eyes closed, his hands spread over the heads of the Jewish people like a kohen blessing the congregation ... Although he was weak, his voice sounded like the the roar of a lion, overturning mountains and splitting heavens ... words that came from the heart entered the depths of the hearts of those who heard, to the innermost chambers, until everyone's heart poured out like water, shedding rivers of tears ... fortunate is he who saw all this."
