Beit Shmuel, First Edition. Dyhernfurth, 1689. Pedigree Copy

Sefer Beit Shmuel with the Shulchan Aruch text - one of the fundamental works on Shulchan Aruch Even HaEzer by Rabbi Shmuel of Vodislov. Dyhernfurth, Rabbi Shabtai Meshorrer Press. 1689. First edition. First sefer printed in Dyhernfurth.

The signature of the gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib of Skohl, author of Leviat Chen, appears prominently on the title page: "Hashem has granted me this sacred sefer, the youth Aryeh Leib presently of Skohl" as well as other notations that indicate his ownership of the book. There are also other rabbinic notations and stamps on the title page and the flyleaves, including "Baruch son of Rabbi Moshe ..." (beautiful embossed stamp), "Yehoshua A[sher] Rabinowitz son of ..." and others.

Rare 'mahadura kamma' edition of the Beit Shmuel. The author later printed his 'mahadura batra.' The printer, Rabbi Shabtai Meshorrer, was known due to his famous work Ikar Siftei Chachamim on Rash"i's commentary on the Torah, printed in almost all chumashim.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Aryeh Leib of Skohl.
