Letter of Recommendation from Rabbi Eliezer David Greenwald, Author of Keren L'David

Letter of recommendation handwritten and signed by the gaon Rabbi Eliezer David Greenwald of Satmar, author of Keren L'David. Duna-Szerdahely (Hungary), 1905. Letters from him are rare.

The letter was given to the prominent young man Rabbi Shimon b"r Moshe Blumenthal, as written affirmation that he is an aspiring and successful young scholar.
As is evident from the letter, this student started studying in Rabbi Eliezer's yeshivah at a very young age, "and ever since, he has not stirred from the tent of Torah." He also studied at the gaon Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky's yeshivah in Galanta. The disciple's father - Rabbi Moshe, ascended to Jerusalem much earlier. Now, after he has become filled with Talmudic and halachic literature, the son has also decided to ascend to the Holy Land. As such, Rabbi Eliezer writes "I hereby provide these lines to him as proof to take with him that he is precious and kosher, a scion of G-d-fearing and distinguished people, a fitting branch of his ancestral tree."

It is important to note that at the time this letter was written, Rabbi Eliezer was only 28 years old!
