Beit Elo-kim by the Mabi"t. First Edition. Venice, 1576. Perek Shirah. Signatures and Glosses from the Period of Printing

Sefer Beit Elo-kim - elucidations on principles of Torah and religion, divided into three parts: Sha'ar HaTefillah, Sha'ar HaTeshuvah and Sha'ar HaIkarim, concluding with Perek Shirah, by Rabbeinu Moshe of Trani - the Mabi"t. Venice, Di Gara Press, 1576. First edition of the important work by the Mabi"t - leading sage of Safed.

Kabbalistic poems on the ten sephirot and the thirteen principles of faith appear at the beginning of the sefer, after the introduction. 'Perek Shirah' is on the final leaves of the book, with the Mabi"t's commentary is printed (also for the first time), which begins: "Anyone who occupies himself with Perek Shirah in Olam HaZeh has the privilege of studying, and his studies remain with him. He is saved from the evil inclination, from injury and from flagellation in the grave, and judgement in Gehinnom; and he merits to experience the days of Mashiach and life in the World to Come." After 'Perek Shirah, ' the Mabi"t expounds on its importance.

Chapter 16 deals extensively with the subject of the plague, and the Mabi"t discusses at length the question about whether it helps to flee from the place where the plague is, and how this comes together with what was written and sealed on the Days of Judgement. These matters have been extensively discussed during the corona plague.

Several different owners' signatures appear on the title page. One of these includes the date 1612. Glosses can be found along the length of the sefer, including some lengthy ones, in various scripts.
