Letter from the Chafetz Chaim Written by his Son-in-Law and Close Associate, Rabbi Hillel Ginzburg

The Chafetz Chaim's official postcard, with the front bearing his letterhead "Yisrael Meir HaKohen, author of Chafetz Chaim and Mishnah Berurah." The back has the Chafetz Chaim's name printed in a foreign language: "Rabin I. M. Kagan " and a list of his sefarim that had been published so far. The postcard is handwritten by the gaon Rabbi Hillel Ginzberg, step-son-in-law of the Chafetz Chaim and his right-hand, who signs 'Son-in-law of the gaon Rabbi Yisrael Meir shlit"a.' Radin, 1926.

The letter was sent to the gaon Rabbi Zelig Leib Levin - one of the ba'alei mussar of Jerusalem, and the Chafetz Chaim's agent for distribution of his sefarim in the Land of Israel. In this letter, R' Hillel requests his help for a ben Torah who is in a difficult financial situation.

R' Hillel signs his letter: "I therefore conclude with a blessing that Hashem repay [you] for [your] good activities. With a blessing from a friend who doesn't actually know [you], Hillel Ginzburg, son-in-law of the gaon Rabbi Yisrael Meir shlit"a. Peace be unto you and the whole sacred society, and to the Admo"r, shlit"a.'

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Hillel Ginzburg, disciple of the Chafetz Chaim.

[1] postcard, 14x9 cm. Letters from R' Hillel are uncommon, all the more so on his father-in-law's official postcard.

Moderate-fine condition. Much wear with blemishes and blurring of several letters. Fold marks and small tears in the margins.
