Kitzurei Ibn Rashad on Aristotle's work . Riva de Trento, [1559]. Only edition.
47 leaves. 15 cm.
Philosophical essays. The book was originally written in Greek and then summarized into Arabic by noted Arabic philosopher of the Middle Ages, Ibn Rušd [Averroes], and then translated into Hebrew by Rabbi Moshe Ibn Tibon c. [1240]. This is Ibn Rusd's first book that was printed in its entirety in Hebrew. (Only a section of his book was printed within the Shar ShaShamayim by Gershon ben Shlomo, Venice 1547). Introduction by doctor Yaakov Markaria. The colophon notes: finished on Hanukah 1559. Very rare book.
The upper left section of leaf 18,a bears a handwritten gloss in Arabic.
New binding. Worming blemishes to the first and least leaf – some with loss of text. Six leaves are cropped on their left sides, with blemishes to the line endings. Aging stains. Moderate-Fine condition.
