Impressive Set: Ri"f, [6] Volumes. Large and Elegant Format. Pedigree Copy

Hilchot Rav Alfas with its commentaries. Vienna, Haroshansky Press, 1804-1807. Complete set in [6] volumes. Large and elegant format. Copy that belonged to the Segal family rabbis of Trentsen. Several handwritten glosses.

Beautiful woodcut etching on the title pages of the volumes with a portrait of the author. Most known copies have a standard title page, and instead of the etching there is a typical monogram. One volume of this set contains both title pages.

All the volumes are signed by Rabbi Aharon Yosef Shmuel HaLevi Segal, av beit din of Trentsen, with notations in his hand attesting that he received the sefarim from his father, the gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Segal, av beit din of Trentsen. One volume has an additional notation signed Ze'ev Wolf Segal - possibly a son of Rabbi Avraham Yosef Shmuel. The volumes also bear signatures from the Ria"sh's son-in-law - Rabbi David Levine, av beit din of Ilava.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of Rabbi Yechezkel HaLevi Segal, av beit din of Trentsen, his son, Rabbi Aharon Yosef Shmuel HaLevi Segal, av beit din of Trentsen, and his son-in-law, Rabbi David Levine, av beit din of Ilava.

[6] volumes, all complete. 40.5 cm.

Overall fine-very fine condition. Usage and aging marks. Worming perforations and tunnels in several places. Original leather binding, with chafing. Dismantled bindings in two volumes.
