Da'at HaRabbanim / Milchemet Mitzvah. Polemic Regarding Women's Participation in Elections. Rare

Sefer Da'at HaRabbanim - ruling by a beit din in Jerusalem and the decision by the assembly of rabbis in the Land of Israel. With two lengthy responsa by Rabbi Meir Dan Plotzki, edited by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Kasher. Warsaw, 1920. First edition. Rare book, found in the Rare Books Department of the National Library.

"At the General Assembly of Rabbis in the Land of Israel ... it was decided that the participation of women in the elections ... is against Dat Moshe V'Yehudit and against the spirit of the nation in general. As long as this innovation is not removed, no proper Jew will participate in the National Assembly ... The small one, Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook, engaged in sacred service on the sacred Land, here in Jerusalem"

Special booklet about the controversy regarding women's participation in elections. This controversy stirred up religious Jewry in the 1920s with respect to the elections to the Knesset of Israel's National Assembly. Jerusalem's rabbis decided with Da'at Rabbanim along with the decision by the General Assembly of Rabbis in the Land of Israel led by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook, and with the support of another approximately hundred rabbis, opposing the participation of women. Includes responsa on the topic by the gaon of Poland, Rabbi Meir Dan Plotzki, author of Klei Chemdah. Includes "Kuntress Milchemet Mitzvah, " a broad elucidation of the topic by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Kasher.
