Charity Box - Burial Society - Eastern Europe [?], 19th Century
A large and heavy charity box made of massive thick wood that belonged to the 'Chevra kadish'
At the top are the words 'Chevra Kadish G. C. S. E [Chessed Shel Emmet Burial Society]' in metal letters welded to the wood. Two metal hinges with two locks are attached behind a metal door. [The door is locked]. A deep slit for putting in money was sawn into the wood.
A historical item.
Height: 30 cm. Length: 19 cm. Width: 13 cm. Weight: 5.730 kg.
A few cracks in the wood, signs of rust.
