Issue of the "HaBoker" newspaper announcing the establishment of the State of Israel. November, 1947
Issue of the "HaBoker" newspaper. Dated: November 26, 1947, announcing the partition plan and the establishment of an independent Jewish state in Palestine.
"The plan for partition and the establishment of a Jewish state was accepted yesterday at the "Va'ada Ha'eretz Yisraeilit" by a majority of 25 votes against 13..." The issue includes an expansive review of the decision and its historic significance.
The UNSCOP presented this plan on behalf of the United Nations and it passed three days later with a majority of votes at a general assembly of the U.N. on November 29, 1947. It is known as "Resolution 181." This resolution was the first time that a date was set for the establishment of a Jewish State and allowed for legal immigration to the country.
