Overi Orach Siddur. Vilna, 1887. Miniature. Especially Rare
Miniature siddur - Ovrei Orach per the Ar"i's text. Vilna, 1887. Especially rare siddur. Not listed by Mif'al HaBibliographiah, and not found in the collection at the National Library. There is also a similar siddur printed in Vilna in 1903, which indicates that it was printed according to an 1887 edition, apparently referring to this siddur.
As its name implies, it contains all the prayers needed for the entire cycle of the year. Travelers who are occasionally in places without a Jewish community or a synagogue will find everything they need in it. Includes prayers for all days of the year: Weekdays, Shabbat and holidays. Tikkunei Shabbat, Pirkei Avot, Kiddush Levanah, Sefirat HaOmer, Birkot HaNehenin, haftarahs for public fast days, the Passover Haggadah, Hoshanot, Selichot and many other matters. Leaf 109 bears a moledet calendar for the years 1887-1889 and a prayer for the welfare of Emperor Alexander Alexandrovich (Alexander III), his wife Maria and their son, heir to the throne, [Czar] Nikolai. The siddur is a miniature pocket edition - also for the purpose of carrying it easily while traveling.
283 leaf, 7 cm.
Fine condition. Aging stains in several individual leaves. Reinforcements to the first two leaves and the last leaf, with a very slight blemish in the text. Not bound.
