Pair of Books by the Mahari"tz Chayut. First Editions. Spectacular Portrait. Glosses

* Sefer Mavo HaTalmud including foundations and principles in both halachah and aggadah that I compiled and anthologized from the two Talmuds and from the Midrash, and also the rest of the books by our sages, the Rishonim ... Tzvi Hirsch Chayut, residing here in Zolkiew and environs. Zolkiew, 1845. First edition.

This copy includes a portrait of the author - a spectacular etching. Apparently printed in a book that was printed in the late 19th century and bound with this book.

* Ateret Tzvi, including six different and separate articles by Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Chayut, av beit din of Zolkiew. Zolkiew, 1840-1842. First edition.

Including six works: Ateret Tzvi, Mishpat HaHora'ah, Tiferet L'Moshe, Darkei Moshe, Iggeret Bikoret and Matbe'a HaBerachot. Each part has a dedicated title page.

Faded and undeciphered rabbinic owner's signature at the top of the title page. There are also many lengthy glosses along the entire length of the volume in Ashkenazic script from c. 1870s-1880s.

Important glosses with much interesting content. One of the glosses is signed "David Zeidman."
