Efraim Deinard. "Zelem B'Heichal". St. Louis, 1926.
IV, 184 pages. Yiddish and Hebrew.
Polemic work opposing Prof. Joseph Klausner and Stephen Weiss' method for studying history [the Second Temple era]. The title page features the author's sharp words: "It should be written for eternal memory a terrible thing, that amongst Israel has sprung up two idol worshippers, Dr. Joseph Klausner in Jerusalem and Dr. Stephen Weiss in New York to lead Israel to serve other gods..." At the end of the work, the author addeda lengthy study titled, Zelem B'Heichal.
Efraim Deinard [1846-1930] was an historian, controversial figure and leading bibliogrpaher of the new era. He was a provocateur, who authored works without heeding public opinion and unrestrainedly opposing authoriative experts on any given subject.
